285. Joseph W. Wheatley Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the Ex.d from 75 following Bill of sale was recorded on the 2.d A. T. Wheatley Ex.r day of November A. D. 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Augustus T. Wheatley, of Dorchester County in the state of Md, Ex.r of Jesse Wheatley, late of said County dec.d, for and in consideration of the sum of seventy one dollars to me in hand paid, on or before the delivery of these presents the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge, I have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell to Joseph W. Wheatley, of the County and state aforesaid, his heirs and Assigns, a certain Negro Girl, a slave for life, called Dianna, about two years old. To have & to hold the said Negro Girl named Dianna as above bargained and sold, or intended so to be, to the said Joseph W. Wheatley, his heirs and Assigns forever: And I, Augustus T. Wheatley, Ex.r of Jesse Wheatley dec.d for myself, my heirs, Executors and Assigns, the said Negro Girl named Dianna, as above, unto the said Joseph W. Wheatley, his heirs and Assigns, against against me the said Augustus T. Wheatley, Ex.r of Jesse Wheatley dec.d, my heirs & assigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness my hand and seal this sixteenth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered in the Augustus T. Wheatley (Seal) presence of Jos. H. Bell J. P. Ex.r of Jesse Wheatley dec.d State of Md. Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this sixteenth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty, before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County, personally appeared Augustus T. Wheatley, Ex.r of Jesse Wheatley dec.d and doth acknowledge the within Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year first above written. Joseph H. Bell J. P. State of Md, Dorchester County, To wit: On this 16th day of Oct in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty, before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace, in and for sd County, personally appeared Joseph W. Wheatley and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in the within Bill of sale is true and bona fide as there set forth. In Witness my hand.
