276. administrators and assigns against me the said Stephen Whales free negro my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will and forever defend by these presents of all and singular which said goods household stuff and furniture and other the premises I the said Stephen Whales free negro have put the said Henry Elliott and Edward Thomas in full possession by delivering to them one horse at the sealing and delivering of these presents in the name of the whole premises hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to be so unto them the said Henry Elliott and Edward Thomas as aforesaid In Witness Whereof I the said Stephen Whales have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 21.st day of September 1850. his Signed, sealed and delivered Stephen x Whales (seal) in presence of mark Saml Abbott Robert Hubbard State of Maryland Dorchester County, to wit: On this 21.st day of September 1850 before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County personally appears Stephen Whales free negro party grantor and acknowledges the foregoing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such case made and provided. And at the same time and place also appeared Henry Elliott and Edward Thomas party grantees in the said Indenture named and made oath that the Considerations set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and Bonafide as set forth in set forth. Witness my hand Sam.l Abbot J. P. Washington A. Smith Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded on the Ex.d from 50 third day of October Anno Domini 1850, to wit: Jeremiah W. Willey Know all men by these presents that I Jeremiah W. Willey of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty Dollars current money, have bargained, granted and sold, and by these presents, doth grant, bargain and sell unto D.r Washington A. Smith of the County and State aforesaid. Three feather Beds, 1 set of Stools, 2 tables, 1 looking glass, 3 chests, 1 clock, 3 bedsteads and furniture earthen ware &.c &.c one yoke young Red oxen, two Heifers, 11 head Hogs, 1 hand Mill, 1 Grind Stone, 1 Canoe, 1 plough and chairs, 2 Hoes. To Have and to Hold the above mentioned property unto him the said Dr Washington A. Smith, his heirs and assigns to their own proper use and benefit, and behoof. Witness my hand and seal this 24th day of September in the year of our Lord 1850. Signed sealed and delivered in the Jeremiah W. Willey (Seal) presence of James Smith State of Maryland Dorchester County, to wit: On this 24.th day of September 1850 personally appeared Jeremiah W. Willey before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed also same time appeared Washington A. Smith party grantee and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration is bona fide as therein set forth acknowledged before and Certified by James Smith Del.d & sent to D.r W. A. Smith by Mail this 4.th Octo 1850. |
