270 mentioned before the subscriber a justice of the Peace for the County and State aforesaid, and Made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration mentioned in the aforegoing Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged and sworn before Charles Corkran Anne Page Sen.r Be it remembered that the following Deed of Manumission was Paid 50 To Ex.d recorded on the third day of September Anno Domini 1850, to wit: Negro woman Jane Jinnefer Maryland Sct. To all whom it may Concern, be it known, that I, Ann Page Sen.r of the Town of Cambridge in Dorchester County and State of Maryland, for divers good Causes and Considerations, me thereunto moving, have released from Slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free, and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery, liberate, manumit and set free, my negro woman named Jane Jinnefer being of the age of thirty two or three years, and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance, and her the said negro woman named Jane Jinnefer I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted and discharged, from all manner of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever. In Witness whereof I have hereto my name and seal affixed this 16th day of August Eighteen hundred and fifty. Two Witness Charlotte A. H. Page James Rea Anne Page (seal) Dorchester County Sc. On the 16.th day of August Anno Domini 1850 Then Came before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County Ann Page Senr and acknowledged the within and aforegoing deed of Manumission to be her act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and the acts of Assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before James Rea Wesley Phillips Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded Ex.d from 85 on the eleventh day of September Anno Domini 1850, to wit: Henry Phillips and Know all men by these presents that Henry Phillips and Reuben E. Phillips Reuben ^E^ Phillips of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and sixty five Dollars current money to us in hand paid by Wesley Phillips of the County & State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Wesley Phillips his executors and administrators and assigns the following property, to wit: One gig and harness, one bay horse, three mares, and two Colts, one yoke oxen, thirteen head of other Cattle, sixty bushels Corn more or less, thirty two Bushels of wheat, forty hogs, Some pigs and shoats more or less nineteen sheep more or less five ploughes, Three harrows, four hoes, one lot potatoes, one lot turnips and cabbage, 1500 lbs Pork, one ox Cart yoke and Bows one horse Cart and harness, 40 bushel oats, 5000 lbs blades lot Top fodder and Corn Caps 50 lbs Lard 4 beds bedsteads and furniture, one dozen chairs, one beaurew, one Mahogany Table, one pine table, one block, two looking glasses, one wheat fan, one loom and gear, the unexpired time of a negro boy for the balance on the year, and all the ballance of the household and Kitchen furniture, that we purchased of Wesley Phillips as per bill of Sale executed on the 17.th |
