268 Samuel D. LeCompte Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded Exam.d from 75 on the 29th day of July Anno Domini 1850 to wit: Henry Alford Know all Men by these presents, that I Henry Alford of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for me in Consideration that Samuel D. LeCompte has assumed to pay for me to William H Pattison administrators of James Twilley of Said County and State at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the sum of seventy six dollars and has also in hand paid to me the sum of five Dollars, the receipt whereof I the said Henry Alford, do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Sam.l D. LeCompte his executors administrators and assigns all the goods household stuff implements furniture and chattels hereinafter particularly described, that is to say, two beds and bedsteads and furniture, one bureau, one clock, one watch and chain, twelve chairs, one rag Carpet, 2 guns, plates dishes knives & forks, safe, and all the residue of my personal property, of every kind and descriptions whatever, being and remaining in a certain tenements in the house now occupied by me or otherwise in my possession. To Have and to Hold all and singular the said goods, household stuff, furniture and chattels, above bargained and sold, or mentioned or intended so to be to the said Sam.l D. LeCompte his executors, administrators and assigns forever all of which to the said Saml D. LeCompte I warrant and defend against any and every person or persons of all and singular which said goods, household stuff furniture and chattels and other the premises I the said Henry Alford have put the said Sam.l D. LeCompte in full possession by delivering to him the said Samuel D. LeCompte one table spoon and the Key of the boat at the sealing and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole premises hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be unto him the said Sam.l D. LeCompte as aforesaid In Witness whereof I have hereto set my name and affixed my seal on this twenty ninth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty "and the Key of the boat" being first interlined "twenty ninth" also" Henry Alford (seal) Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County Sct: On this twenty ninth day of July in the year 1850 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County, personally appeared Henry Alford and signed the above and sealed and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed, and at the same time personally appeared Sam.l D. LeCompte the grantee and made oath that the Consideration therein expressed is true and bona fide Acknowledged and sworn before Charles Corkran Ann M. Byns Be it remembered that the following Deed of Manumission was Paid Exam.d To 50 cts paid recorded on the Seventeenth day of August Anno Domini 1850, to wit: Negro woman Eliza Camper Maryland Sc. To all whom it doth or may Concern, be it known that I Anne M. Byns of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one Dollar current money to me in hand paid, have released from Slavery, liberated, Manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate manumit and set free forthwith and from henceforth my negro woman Eliza Camper being of the age of forty one, and |
