261. myself my heirs, executors and Administrators, all & singular the said goods, chattels & Stock, and other the premises unto the said John Diller, his Executors and Administrators & Assigns, against me, Henry Thomas, my Executors and Administrators, and against all & every other person or persons whatever, shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents; of all and singular which said goods, chattels & Stock, and other the premises, I, the said Henry Thomas, have put the said John Diller in full possession by delivering to him the said John Diller one Spider at the sealing and delivering these presents in the name of the whole premises hereby bargained & sold, or mentioned & intended to be so, unto the said John Diller aforesaid. In Witness I have hereto set my hand & seal this 25.th day of June A. D. 1850 his Test James Rea Henry x Thomas (seal) mark State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this 25.th day of June A. D. 1850, before me, one of the Justices of the Peace, in and for said County, appears Henry Thomas, and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed, according to the true intent & meaning thereof, and the Acts of Assembly in such case made & provided At the same time personally appears John Diller, Grantee, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in the foregoing Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. Acknowledged & sworn to before James Rea. Gabriel P. Lake Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale Ex.d from 60 was recorded on the 28.th day of June A. D. 1850, To wit: Mary M. Tubman {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that I, Mary M. {one dol.} D. Tubman, of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars, current money of Maryland, to me in hand paid by Gabriel P. Lake, of said County and State, before the ensealing & delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Mary M. D. Tubman have granted, bargained and sold, conveyed & transfered, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, convey and transfer, unto the said Gabriel P. Lake, his heirs & Assigns forever, the following Negroes, To wit: one Negro Woman Dary, aged thirty six years one negro Girl Louisa, aged three years, and one Negro Boy Charles, aged six weeks, children of said woman Dary, slaves for life, and now in the possession of the said Gabriel P. Lake. To have and to hold the said above described Negroes unto the said Gabriel P. Lake, his heirs and Assigns forever, and to and for no other use, intent or purpose whatsoever, against me the said Mary M. D. Tubman, and my heirs, and against all persons whatsoever, claiming the same or any part thereof. In testimony whereof the said Mary M. D. Tubman have hereunto subscribed |
