260. and twelve dollars & fifty cents, current money, to us in hand paid by John Baker of the said County and state aforesaid, we have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said John Baker, his heirs and Assigns, the following negroes, that is to say, one negro woman named Jane, aged about twenty nine years, also her two youngest children, that is to say, Alexander aged about two years, and Charles aged about twelve months all the above Negroes our slaves for life and sound in body and mind To have and to hold the said Negroes Jane, Alexander & Charles, as above bargained & sold, unto the said John Baker, his heirs, Executors, Administrators & Assigns, against us the said James A. Muse and Mary S. Muse, our heirs, executors and Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof we, James A. Muse & Mary S. Muse have hereto set our hands and affixed our seals this 25.th day of June Eighteen hundred & fifty. Muse (seal) Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the 25.th day of June, in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, the within named James A. Muse and Mary S. Muse and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be their Act and deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same And at the same time came before me, John Baker within named, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Dated B of Sale Del to John Baker [illegible] John Diller Negro Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following Ex.d from 70 Bill of sale was recorded June 25.th 1850, To wit: Henry Thomas Know all men by these presents that I, Henry Thomas, of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by John Diller of same County & State, at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I, the said Henry Thomas do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto John Diller, his heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, all the following articles, To wit: 3 Hogs, 2 Feather Beds, Bedsteads & furniture, Cupboard & contents, 3 Iron pots, Kettle & Spider, Dutch oven, Woollen Wheel, 4 Stone Jars, 3 Tubs, 4 Buckets, and all the balance of his House hold & kitchen furniture, now in possession of Henry Thomas To have and to hold all & singular the said goods, articles and stock, and all the other premises above bargained & sold, or mentioned and intended so to be, to the said John Diller, his executors, Administrators & Assigns forever And I the said Henry Thomas for |
