259. Thomas Willis Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following Ex.d from 70 Bill of Sale was recorded on the 17.th day of June 1850, To wit: John Mills and State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: Whereas in Eliza Brodes, Adm.rs pursuance of an Order of the Orphans Court of Dorchester County, granted the 17.th day of September 1849, authorising John Mills & Eliza Brodess, Administrators of all & singular the goods & chattels, rights & credits of Edward Brodess, late of said County, deceased, to sell negro woman Harriet and her child Mary Jane & their issue, untill they shall arrive at the age of forty five years, Therefore Know all men by these presents that we, John Mills & Eliza Brodess of Dorchester County and State aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and seventy five dollars, current money, to us in hand paid by Thomas Willis of Dorchester County & state aforesaid, have given, granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Thomas Willis his heirs & Assigns, Negro Woman Harriet & her child Mary Jane, to serve untill they severally arrive at the age aforesaid. To have and to hold the said Negro Woman & her child Mary Jane untill they arrive at the age aforesaid, as above bargained & sold, unto the said Thomas Willis, his heirs, executors, Administrators & Assigns, against us the said John Mills and Eliza Brodess, Adm.rs as aforesaid, will warrant & defend by these presents. In testimony whereof we, the said John Mills & Eliza Brodess as afs.d, and Thomas Willis have hereunto set our hands & seals this 13 day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered John Mills (seal) in the presence of Eliza A. Brodess (seal) James Moobray Thomas Willis (seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this 13.th day of June Anno Domini 1850, personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, the within named John Mills, Eliza Brodess (Adm.rs as aforesaid) and Thomas Willis, and Acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be their act and deed, according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same And at the same time, Thomas Willis the grantee aforesaid, made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this bill of sale is true and bona fide as stated, according to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided. Acknowledged & sworn to before James Moobray 1850 June 17.th Rec.d one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of sale. Wm Jackson Clk.
