257 Seller, for myself, my heirs, executors and Administrators, all & singular the said goods, house hold stuff unto the said Samuel Craig Purchaser, his executors, administrators & Assigns, against me the said Samuel Craig Seller my Executors and Administrators and Assigns against all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend whereof in testimony I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 16.th day of May 1850. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of us Zachariah Tall James Craig Samuel Craig (seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this 16.th day of May 1850, before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, in & for said County, personally appeared Samuel Craig Seller and Acknowledged the above instrument of writing or Bill of sale, to be his Act and deed, according to the true intent & meaning thereof, and the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided. Acknowledged before James Craig J. P. On this 16.th day of May 1850 personally appeared Samuel Craig Purchaser and made Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that the above Bill of sale is a true & bona fide bill of sale and the consideration therein mentioned is just & true as set forth in said paper. Sworn before James Craig J. P. William F. Hicks Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following Ex.d from 75 Bill of sale was recorded on the 27.th day of May 1850, To wit: Thompson & Hutchinson Know all men by these presents that we James Hutcheson & Mitchel Thompson, Executors of James Hutchinson, late of Dorchester County M.d deceased, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and twenty five dollars, current money, to them in hand paid, by William Franklin Hicks, of the County & State aforesaid, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said William Franklin Hicks, his heirs and Assigns, one Negro Woman named Juliann, a servant untill the thirty first day of December, A. D. Eighteen hundred and sixty five, at which time the said Negro Juliann will be entitled to her fredom under the will of the said James Hutchinson dec.d and of sound in body & mind To have and to hold the said Negro Woman, as aforesaid, untill the expiration of the year Eighteen hundred & sixty five, as bargained & sold, unto the said William Franklin Hicks, his heirs, executors & Administrators: And the said James Hutchinson & Mitchell Thompson, Executors of the said James Hutchinson dec.d, do promise & agree to and with the said William Franklin Hicks, his heirs, executors and Administrators, the aforesaid bargained & sold Negro Woman, for the term above specified, against them, and against all and every person or persons whatsoever, shall & will hereafter warrant & forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the said James Hutchinson & Mitchell Thompson, Executors as aforesaid, and William Franklin Hicks, (Purchaser,) have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this twenty fifth day of May in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty. |
