253. at and for the sum of sixty dollars. Now know all men by these presents that I James N. Wright, Constable as aforesaid, in consideration of the premises, and for and in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars to me in hand paid by the said John Muir at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, I have bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said John Muir, all the right, title, claim & demand whatsoever, at law and in Equity, of the said Elijah Marshall of in & to the said Negro Girl named Catharine, and I have put the said Negro Girl Catharine in possession of the said John Muir. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal on this 29.th day March in the year 1850. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of James N. Wright (seal) Charles Corkran Constable Dorchester County Sct: Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that on this 29.th day of March in the year 1850 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in & for Dorchester County, personally appears James N. Wright, Constable, he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party Vendor to the above Bill of sale, and doth acknowledge the said instrument of Writing to be his act and deed. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid. Charles Corkran. State of Maryland, Dorchester County, Sct: Personally appears before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County, John Muir, the grantee in the above Bill of sale and makes Oath that the consideration therein expressed is true & bona fide May 2.d 1850 Charles Corkran. Thomas H. Wrightson Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following Bill Paid Ex.d from 95 of sale was recorded on the 13.th day of May 1850, To wit: James N. Wright Whereas certain Writs of fieri facias (four in number) issued by Samuel Abbott Esquire a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in & for Dorchester County, and to me as Constable directed dated 18th February in the year 1850, one for the sum of Ninety one dollars & sixty six cents Debt and fifty eight & one half cents cost, another for the sum of sixty six dollars and eighty four cents debt and fifty eight cents costs, another for the sum of twenty six dollars & sixty nine cents debt & fifty eight cents costs and another for the sum of Thirty dollars and seventy seven cents and fifty eight cents costs, making in the aggregate the sum of Two hundred and forty eight dollars and seventy cents debt & costs, at the suit of Muir & Wrightson, reciting that Whereas a certain John Muir and Thomas H. Wrightson or the firm of Muir & Wrightson, by a Judgment of a certain Robert Muir, a Justice of the Peace of the said County & State, recovered against one Elijah Marshall the said several sums of Money & Costs above mentioned and specefied in said Executions, therefore I James N. Wright Constable was commanded by said writs of fieri facias of the goods and Deliv.d May 20 1850 to Jn.o Muir |
