239. in this Bill of Sale is true and bonafide as therein set forth according to the true meaning of the act of Assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made and provided Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Received March 11.th 1850 One Dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale W.m Jackson clk. Elihu Wheatley Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill Ex.d from 80 of July was recorded on the 11.th day of March ^1850^ to wit: Washington Blake This Indenture made this ninth day of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty between Washington Blake of Dorchester County and State of Maryland of the one part and Elihu Wheatley of the said County and State of the other part Whereas the said Elihu Wheatley has entered Security for the said Washington Blake to Jeremiah Bramble Esq to secure the payment of the said sum of eighty five Dollars and twenty four Cents and whereas it is the desire of the said Washington Blake to secure and protect the said Elihu Wheatley from any loss in consequence of said Securityship Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Washington Blake for and in Consideration of the premises and also of the Sum of five Dollars Current money to him in hand paid by the said Elihu Wheatley at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Elihu Wheatley his Executors administrators and assigns all and singular the goods and Chattels and personal property hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed that is to say: One Yoke of Oxen, One Ox Cart, One Bed & furniture, One table, One Cow, four head of hogs and Six Chairs To have and To hold all and singular the said goods & Chattels and personal property unto the said Elihu Wheatley his Executors administrators and Assigns to his and their Own use and behoof Provided always and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Washington Blake do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Jeremiah Bramble his Executors administrators and assigns the said full Sum of Eighty four Dollars and twenty five Cents with the interest herein whereon the same shall become due and shall in all respects defend and save harmless the said Elihu Wheatley from an injury or prejudice in Consequence of the Securityship aforesaid then and in such Case these presents and every matter and thing herein Contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein contained to the Contrary notwithstanding. In Witness whereof the said Washington Blake has hereunto set his hand and Seal on the day and year aforesaid his Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Washington x Blake (seal) The word "Cents" being first interlined mark James Rea Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this ninth day of March in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty before the Subscriber one of the State of Marylands Justices of the Peace in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appears Washington Blake and doth acknowledge the aforegoing Indenture or instrument of writing 1850 August 26.th Deld to Elihu Wheatley |
