James Reddit                 Be it remembered & it is hereby certified, that the following
Ex.d      from   60          Bill of Sale was recorded on the 15.th day of January 1850.
Elijah Marshall Sen.r      Know all men by these presents that I, Elijah Marshall
                                     Sen.r of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for and
in consideration of ^the sum of^ two hundred & twenty five dollars, current money, to me in hand
paid by James Reddit of same County & State aforesaid, have granted, bargained
and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said James Reddit
his heirs and Assigns, the following Negroes, that is to say, Negro Woman named
Minta, aged twenty five years, to serve twelve years from the first day of January
Eighteen hundred & fifty, and then to be free; also her female child named May
aged about three years, a slave for life:  To have and to hold the aforesaid Negroes,
as above bargained & sold, unto the said James Reddit, his heirs, executors, Administrators
and Assigns, against me the said Elijah Marshall Sen.r, my heirs, executors
and Administrators, and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever,
shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents.  In testimony whereof
we Elijah Marshall Sen.r and James Redditt have hereunto set our hands
and affixed our seals this fourth day of January Eighteen hundred & fifty.

Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:  On the fourth day of January in the
year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty, personally appeared
before me, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, the within named
Elijah Marshall Sen.r and James Reddit; and Acknowledged the within Bill
of sale to be their Act & deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning
of the same; And at the same time came before me, James Reddit within
mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration
set forth in this Bill of sale is true & bona fide as therein set
forth according to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided.
                         Acknowledged before                        Thomas R. Cook

Rec.d January 15.th 1850 of James Reddit one dollar in lieu of a stamp
on this Bill of sale.                                                   Wm Jackson Clk


Skinner Richardson      Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following
Ex.d      To         50     Deed of Manumission was recorded on the 4.th day of February
Ann Reed, Negro         in the year 1850, To wit:
                                    This Indenture Witnesseth that I, Skinner Richardson
of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum
of one cent to me in hand paid at & before the ensealing & delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have released from slavery, manumitted
and set free, and by these presents do release from slavery, manumit & set free,
