217 Robert Rook Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following Ex.d from 75 Bill of Sale was recorded on the 15.th day of A. S. D. Evans January Anno Domini 1850, To wit: Whereas the undersigned, Alexander S. D. Evans, of Dorchester County, is now confined in Jail upon an alleged offence, and is required to give security in the sum of one hundred dollars for his appearance at Court, before he can obtain his discharge from imprisonment And whereas Robert Rook has consented to become the security of the said Alexander S. D. Evans upon the said Alexander S. D. Evans executing a Bill of sale to him, of all the property of the said Evans, to indemnify & counter secure, the said Robert Rook And whereas the said Alexander S. D. Evans stands indebted unto James A. Stewart for professional services in the sum of Twenty dollars, and is desirous for securing the payment thereof by a lien on his property, and in consideration of the Premises, and of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said Robert Rook, has agreed to execute these presents Now therefore, Know all men by these presents that I the said Alexander S. D. Evans, in consideration of the Premises and of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said Robert Rook, have given, granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Robert Rook and his heirs & Assigns forever, all my personal property, consisting of a small Boat, with her Appurtenances, one Horse & Cart, the Lease of the Premises where the said Evans and resides, rented from D.r Tubman, Three Beds & furniture, one Bureau & one Clock, and all the Household & Kitchen furniture of the said Alexander S. D. Evans, together with all the stock of Hogs & Cattle belonging to the said Evans, and all the personal property of every name & description, together with all the appertenances thereto belonging To have and to hold the said property to the said Robert Rook and his heirs and Assigns forever: Provided that if the said Alexander S. D. Evans shall save harmless the said Robert Rook for entering as his security as aforesaid, and shall well & truly pay to the said James A. Stewart the said sum of Twenty dollars on or before the 1st day of April next, then this Bill of Sale to be of no effect, otherwise of full force & virtue in law. In Testimony whereof the said Alexander S. D. Evans has to these presents set his hand and seal this 14.th day of January in the year 1850. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Charles Corkran A. S. D. Evans State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this 14.th day of January in the year 1850, personally appears before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for the said state and County, Alexander S. D. Evans, party grantor in the aforegoing Bill of sale, and Acknowledge the same to be his act and deed. At the same time appears Robert |
