214. Shadrach Mitchell Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that Paid To Ex.d the following deed of Manumission was recorded on Sundry Negroes the 27.th day of December A. D. 1849, To wit: To all whom it may concern, be it known that I, Shadrach Mitchell, of the Town of Cambridge in Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving, have released from Slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free my negro woman named Emily Wing, aged twenty five years, and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance, and her son Jacob Henry Wing, aged five years on the nineth^teenth^ day of last October, and her daughter George Ann Wing, aged six months on the 25.th day of the present month; and her the said negro woman, named Emily Wing, I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted & discharged from all manner of servitude to me, my Executors or Administrators forever; and the said Negro Children, Jacob Henry Wing and George Ann Wing when they arrive at the age of fifteen years, at which time they will be able to work & gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance, I do declare to be from thenceforth free, manumitted & discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors & administrators forever. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my name and seal affixed this 27.th day of December 1849. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Paid Thomas Hughlett Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Ex.d from 70 Bill of Sale was recorded on the 1.st day of January 1850. W.m K. Travers, Adm.r Know all men by these presents that I, William K. Travers, Administrator of Samuel Hurst J.r, of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and fifty five dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Thomas Hughlett of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Thomas Hughlett, his heirs and Assigns, the following Negro Man named John or Jack, aged about Eighteen years, to serve sixteen years from the second day of April next according to the will of Matthias Travers, deceased, slave for sixteen years afs.d and sound in body & mind.
