202 At the same time personally appears the within named John A. L. Radclilff before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County and State above named and makes oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that he actually and truly paid the whole of the purchase money as named and mentioned in the within Bill of Sale or instrument of writing Saml Abbott J. P. Be it remembered That the following Bill of Sale was Samuel D. LeCompte recorded on the 1st day of September 1849 To wit: from 45 Ex.d Whereas Devereux Traverse heretofore has executed to William H. Travers & others Saml D. LeCompte a Bill of Sale of negro woman Ibby for and in consideration of the amount therein expressed. And whereas at that time John H. Hodson & John Webster held the property of said Devereux Traverse & they & he have since joined in a Deed thereof to the undersigned without particularly excepting said negro Woman Ibby & it is right in such case to complete the said title of said LeCompte if it should not be complete. Now these presents Witnesseth that in Consideration of the premises & of the sum of One Dollar in hand paid. We the undersigned William H. Traverse Isabella Bayly Maria Hooper and Olivia Travers have & do hereby convey all their right & title to the said Ibby to the said Samul D. LeCompte Witness Our hands and Seals this 10th day of August in the year 1849 William H Travers (seal) Isabella Bayly (seal) Maria Hooper (seal) Olivia Traverse (seal) Received of Samuel D. LeCompte amount in full by payment of Mortgage money to Kendal M Jacobs ninety nine Dollars & interest & fifty Dollars in Cash for Negro Woman Ibby and all claim on mortgage heretofore executed to said LeCompte is hereby released & the said Negro sold absolutely to said LeCompte Aug 30.th 1849 Jno Ew Hooper Devereux Travers as Agent Be it remembered that the following BIll of Sale was recorded Mary Saddler on the 3d day of September 1849 To wit: Paid Ex.d from 51 Know all men by these presents that I John H John H. Carroll Carroll of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for the consideration of Eighty five Dollars Current money to me in hand by Mary Saddler of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold & delivered and by these presents do grant bargain and sell and do deliver unto the said one Bay Horse and a Crop of Corn & fodder growing on the ground one Cupboard which said property I will warrant and defend to the said Mary Saddler her executors and Administrators and Assigns against me my executors and administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever.
