201 the said James Wheeler J.r my Executors & administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents, of all & singular the aforesaid Mare & one Yoke of Oxen) In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 9.th day of August 1849 his Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of James x Wheeler J.r (seal) Sam.l Abbott mark State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On the 9.th day of August 1849, before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace for the State & County aforesaid, appears James Wheeler J.r and Acknowledged the aforegoing writing to be his act & deed according to the true intent & meaning thereof and the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided At the same time personally appears William Hubbard, purchaser of the property named in the within Bill of sale and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that he paid the full amount named & specefied for the within named property. Sam.l Abbott J. P. Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded John A. L. Radcliff on the 22d day of August 1849 To wit: paid Ex.d from 60 {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that I Levin L Keene Levin L. Keene {one Dol.} of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the Sum of one Hundred and ninety two Dollars and ninety four Cents Current money to me in hand paid by John A. L. Radcliff of Same County & in the State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Levin L. Keene do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John A. L. Radcliff his executors administrators and assigns a certain Negro Woman Slave named Hester and her two Children named john & Augustus. To have and To hold the said negro woman slave named Hester and her two Children John & Augustus, above bargained and sold or intended hereby so to be to the said John A. L. Radcliff his executors administrators or assigns forever And the said Levin L Keene does warrant said negro Slaves to be slaves for life, and and will defend the same against me or my heirs or any one claiming under me or my heirs. Witness my hand seal this twenty first day of August one thousand eight hundred and forty nine Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Levin L. Kane (Seal) Samuel Abbott Martin L. Wright State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: On the twenty first day of August one Thousand eight hundred and forty nine personally appeared the within named Levin L. Keene before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for Dorchester County and State aforesaid and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and delivered for the purposes therein named.
