do hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do hereby bargain
grant and sell to the said William Hughes Sr his Executors Administrators heirs and Assigns
All my right title and interest and claim in and to a certain Mulatto Woman named Mary
Teackle and her infant Child named Lilly  To Have and To Hold to him said
William Hughes his heirs or assigns the said woman & child for and during the term of
Eleven Years to be Completed from the fifteenth day of August Anno Domini eighteen Hundred
and forty & at the end of the said Eleven Years the said Mary Teackle & her child
above mentioned are to be free.  And I the said Catherine J. M. Ray do further covenant
and oblige myself to warrant and defend the said Mary & her child Lilly against all
persons claiming or to claim them or either of them.  In Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and affixed my seal this eighth day of July 1842.

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct.  Be it remembered that on this eighth
day of June eighteen Hundred and forty two before the Subscriber a Justice of the
peace of the said State in and for said County personally appears Catherine J M Ray she
being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party
to the foregoing instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be her act and deed
In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

Anne Arundel County To wit:  I hereby Certify that James W. Hunt Gentleman who
appears to have taken and signed the aforegoing acknowledgment was at the time of so doing one
of the State of Maryland Justices of the peace in and for Anne Arundel County duly
Commissioned and Sworn

    {A A County}      of Ann Arundel County Court the eighth day of July in the year of
    {      Court    }      Our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and forty two.

July 1849 personally appeared William Hughes before the Subscriber one of the Justices of
the peace for the State and County aforesaid and acknowledged the within and aforegoing
Bill of sale to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and
the act of assembly in such Case made and provided.

Maryland Dorchester County Sct.  On this 10 July 1849 personally appears William Hughes
party Grantee above named and made oath that the consideration mentioned in the above bill of sale
is true and bonafide as therein stated.  Sworn before me a Justice of the peace for the County & State
