193 William W Foxwell & others Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded Ex.d from 75 on the 26th day of June 1849 To wit: James A. Stewart Know all men by these presents that I James A. Stewart of Dorchester County State of Maryland have made the following Transfer to wit: Whereas Solomon Foxwell & Charles Shenton did give me a Bill of Sale on the 14th April 1847 for a Negro girl Slave Called Mary & whereas on the same day I did agree with Solomon Foxwell that upon the payment to me of the Sum of one Hundred and five Dollars with interest & Costs in equal instalments at 6 & 18 months I would transfer the said Slave Mary to said Solomon Foxwell or his order & whereas the said Solomon Foxwell did not punctually Comply with his said Engagement but this day there remains due to me the Sum of Twenty five Dollars which I agree to give him Six months in which to pay the same with interest & whereas a Certain Dr Wheatherly sold a Medical Account against the said Girl & whereas at the request of the said Solomon Foxwell I have agreed to transfer the said girl "Mary" to William Washington Mary Francis, Rose ann and Julia the Children of Solomon Foxwell with the understanding that the said Girl is to be answerable to me for the said Sum of Twenty five Dollars & also for the said Medical Account & all demands on account of the said girl & which the said Solomon Foxwell is to pay Now therefore in Consideration of the premises & also of the Sum of one Dollar to me in hand paid by the said W.m W. Mary Francis Rose ann & Julia Foxwell I have granted, bargained and sold all my right & title to the said girl "Mary" tot eh said Parties & their heirs and assigns forever with the understanding that the said girl & Solomon Foxwell are to be liable for the above mentioned sums of Money To Have and To Hold the said girl to the said Parties & their heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof I have hereto Set my hand & Seal this 26th day of June 1849. Test Charles Corkran James A. Stewart (seal) I agree to the within Transfer & to the Stipulations therein Contained Witness my hand & seal Test Charles Corkran Solomon Foxwell (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: On this 26th day of June 1849 personally appears before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for said State and County James A. Stewart and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and Deed at the same time appears Solomon Foxwell and acknowledges that the same is all right & proper & as natural Guardian for his Children makes Oath that the Consideration therein mentioned is just true & bonafide to the best of his Knowledge & belief Charles Corkran State of Maryland Be it remembered that he following Bond Ex.d from 55 was recorded on the 2.d day of July 1849.
