A. Stewart and his heirs and assigns forever all my right & title to negro boy Slave called
Joe Gather to serve until the 12th March 1850.  To Have and To Hold the said Negro boy Joe
Gaither to the said James A. Stewart & his heirs and assigns forever and whereas the said James
A. Stewart holds a Judgment in Dorchester County Court at the Suit of Jeremiah THomas for
the use of said Stewart against the said James Thomas and Whereas also the said James
A Stewart hold against the said James Thomas an other small Judgment rendered Nov 24 1842
by Samuel Craig at the Suit of John R. Stewart against said James Thomas & now for the
use of the said James A. Stewart & whereas the said James A. Stewart has paid to John
H. Hooper late Sheriff the Sum of Twelve Dollars & six Cents being the Poundage fee on
an Execution under the above first named Judgment  And Whereas the said James A Stewart
has heretofore for several Years hired out the said Negro boy Joe & has named Sundry amounts
of him & whereas also the said James A. Stewart did receive for Levin H. Tall for & on account
of said James Thomas the amount of a Judgment in Dorchester County Court against said
Tall in favor of said Thomas Subject to the fee due to said Stewart for attending to the said
Case And whereas the said James A. Stewart has sundry fees against James Thomas
and whereas the undersigned have made a final Settlement of all the aforegoing matters And
therefore under the said Settlement the said James A. Stewart does hereby acknowledge that
All his Claim against the said James Thomas are Settled and the said James Thomas
does hereby acknowledge, that all ^demands or^ Claims against the Said Stewart for and on account
of the aforegoing matters are Settled in full, and both of the said parties acknowledge, that
at the execution of the Instrument of writing they are Square and unindebted to
each other.  In Testimony Whereof the said James Thomas and James A. Stewart
have hereto set their hands & seals this 21st day of June 1849.

State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit.  On the 21st day of June 1849
personally appears before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for said State & County
James Thomas & James A. Stewart  and Acknowledged the foregoing instrument
of writing to be their Act and Deed & they respectively made oath that the Consideration
mentioned in the said Instrument of writing is just & true and bonafide.

State of Maryland {Stamp}     Be it remembered that the following Bond was recorded
Ex.d      from       {one Dol.}   on the 25th day of June 1849  To wit:
William Delehay & others       Know all men by these presents.  That we William
                                              Delehay Hooper C. Hicks and Robert Delehay of
Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the State
of Maryland in the full and just sum of One Thousand Dollars Current money
of the United States to be paid to the said State or its Certain Attorney; to the which
payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves our heirs, executors
and Administrators jointly and Severally firmly by these presents:  Sealed with our Seals
