163. be to the said Andrew J Collins his Executors Administrators and assigns forever and I the said Samuel G Collins for myself my heirs Executors and Administrators the said Negro boy named Tom as a slave unto the said Andrew J Collins his Executors Administrators and assigns against me the said Samuel G Collins my Executors and Administrators and against all and every other Person and Persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these Presents In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal Sam.l G Collins (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: Be it remembered that on this 6th day of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty nine personally appeared Samuel G Collins the Party grantor within named before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State and County aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the Purport true intent and meaning of the said instrument of writing and the acts of assembly in such Case made and Provided. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid Daniel Robinson J. P. State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: On the 6th day of March in the year of Our Lord 1849 Personally appears before me the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County Andrew J Collins the Party grantee and made Oath on the Holly evangely of Almighty God the Consideration set forth in the within bill of Sale is true and bonafide as therein set forth Sworn before Daniel Robinson J. P. James A Stewart Be it remembered that the following Manumission was recorded on Ex.d to 45 the 29th March 1849 To wit: Rhoda Ann Know all Persons by these presents that I James H Stuart of Paid Dorchester County for divers Good Causes & owing to the respect I have for the Parents & especially for the faithfulness of the Mother Priscilla who belongs to myself & wife & for & in Consideration of the sum of seventy five Dollars to me in hand paid by the friends of the parties. I have manumitted set free & by these presents do manumit & Set free my negro girl Called "Rhoda Ann" aged seven years & now capall of maintenance & Manumission the said Rhoda Ann being the daughter of my servant woman Priscilla the said Manumission to take place from the date. In witness Whereof I have hereto Set my hand & seal this 29th day of March 1849 Signed Sealed and delivered before me Charles Corkran James A Steuart (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester COunty To wit On this 29th of March 1849 personally appears before me the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said State and County James A Steuart party Manumitted in the above instrument of writing and acknowledges the same to be his Act and & deed Charles Corkran |
