137. M. Flint he being known to me to be the person who is named & described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing deed or Indenture, and doth Acknowledge the said Indenture or instrument of Writing to be his Act & deed. In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name on the day & year aforesaid. James Rea (seal) Garret McBride Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale Ex.d from 60 was recorded on the 7.th day of November 1848, To wit: John Mitchell Maryland Sct. Know all men by these presents that John Mitchell of Dorchester County & state of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy five dollars, current money of Maryland, to me in hand paid by Garret McBride of said County and state aforesaid, before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, granted, and doth hereby grant, bargain, sell and deliver to the said Garret McBride, his heirs, Executors, Administrators & Assigns, Negro Woman Mary, aged twenty one years on the twentieth day of April Eighteen hundred and forty eight, to serve untill the twentieth day of April Eighteen hundred and fifty five, after which time the said Mary is to be free. And I the said John Mitchell do hereby warrant and defend the said Negro Girl for the term she has to serve as above stated against me and my heirs, and against all persons claiming or to claim the same girl. In Witness whereof the said John Mitchell, Seller, and Garret M.cBride Purchaser, have hereto set their hands & seals the 6 day of November 1848 John Mitchell (seal) Witness James Rea G. Then came John Mitchell and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration in the said Bill of sale is bona fide and true, and at the same time came John Mitchell and Garret McBride and acknowledged the same Bill of sale to be their Act and deed, according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly in such case made & provided. Taken and Acknowledged before James Rea Deliv.d Nov.r 20.th 1848 to G. McBride Francis Price Be it remembered that the following Bill of Ex.d from 60 Sale was recorded on the 30.th day of Nov.r 1848. T. H. Hooper & Know all men by these presents that we Thomas E. R. Hooper H. Hooper and Ezekiel R. Hooper of Dorchester Paid County, for and in consideration of the sum of Deliv.d to F. Price Dec.r 26 1848. |
