127. Whereas the said John Thomas owes and stands justly indebted to William T. Goldsborough & Daniel M. Henry, Administrators of William W. Laird, in the sum of Three hundred and ten dollars; also a Note to Arthur John Willis of Caroline County for Two hundred & thirty dollars; also the following Executions, due to the following persons, To wit: John Jackson, F. N. William Jackson, Shaffer & Lovey, Assignees of Marshall & Eunick, William F. Pattison, John Roszell, Thomas H. Hicks, Thomas Harper, S & H Byrn, William C. Littleton, White & Anderson, D.r George G. Harmon, James Straughn, Vachel Straughn & C.o, William Roszell, also Francis I. Henry Acc.t All the above executions amounting to one hundred and thirty two dollars and sixty two Cents, current money All the foregoing sums the said Lewis Thomas is Security for the payment thereof, and to secure the payment thereof, he the said John Thomas is willing to execute these presents Now this Indenture Witnesseth, that the said John Thomas, for and in consideration of the premises, and of the sum of Five dollars, current money, to him in hand paid by the said Lewis Thomas, at before the sealing of these presents, doth grant, bargain & sell unto the said Lewis Thomas, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, all and singular the following property, To wit: The Crop of Corn on the ground, lot of Blade Fodder, Top Fodder, Straw, one plough & one Harrow, one Cow, one High post Bedstead & Mattress, one Bedstead, Bed & furniture, half doz Rean Scut Chairs, one Bureau, one Cupboard & contents, one water Table, Pitcher & Bowl, one Writing Desk, one Cherry Table, and one Black Horse, Bridle & Saddle, one Mantle Clock, unto Lewis Thomas, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, to his and their own use and behoof Provided Always, and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents, that if the said John Thomas do & shall well & truly pay, or cause to be paid, unto the said Lewis Thomas, his Executors, Administrators or Assigns, the full Amt of the foregoing claims, amounting to six hundred and seventy two dollars and sixty two cents, current money, with legal interest for the same, on or before the 23.d day of March 1849, then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing herein contained shall cease & be utterly void to all intents and purposes, any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding The said John Thomas shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Lewis Thomas one hundred and fifty dollars out of his present Crop of Corn in forty five day from this date And the said John Thomas, his Executors, Administrators, all & singular the said goods & property, by these presents granted, bargained and sold, and every part thereof, unto the said Lewis Thomas, his |
