123. Holland, his executors, Administrators and Assigns, Negro Boy Ephraim Addison, an indented Apprentice, aged sixteen years the first day of January last, to serve untill the first of January Eighteen hundred & fifteen three. To have and to hold the said Negro Boy Ephraim Addison, an indented Apprentice for the said term of four years from January 1 next ensuing the date hereof: And I the said Edward A. Marshall, for myself, my heirs, executors and Administrators, the said Negro Boy Ephraim Addison, an indented Apprentice, unto the said Thomas Holland, his Executors, Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said Edward A. Marshall ^Seller^ and Thomas Holland, Purchaser, have hereto set their hands & seals this 17.th day of August 1848: And the said Holland is to give said Boy Ephraim freedom dues to the Amount of Twenty dollars. Marshall, the Seller, and Thomas Holland, Purchaser, and Acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be their Act & deed, according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same, and the Acts of Assembly at the same time and place personally appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, the said Thomas Holland, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration of the within Bill of sale is beneficaly as therein set forth. Woolford Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale Ex.d from 70 was recorded on the 24.th day of August 1848, To wit: Nancy Jones Know all men by these presents that I, Nancy Jones, of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, for & in Consideration of the sum of Ten dollars, current money, to me in hand paid, John Wesley Woolford, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, one Negro Boy by the name of Henry Macer, said Henry Macer being now three years of age, and to serve the said John Wesley Woolford, his Executors, Administrators or Assigns, the full time or term of thirty seven years from this date, which will be the ninth day of August in the year Eighteen hundred and Eighty five, at which time the said Negro Henry Macer is to be free and clear of all servitude. To have and to hold the said Negro Boy Henry macer, above bargained & sold to the said John Wesley Woolford, Deld J Craig 16 Sept 1848 |
