121. on this fifth day of August Eighteen hundred and forty eight, before me the subscriber, personally appeared William V. M. Edmondson, Adm.r of James E. Goslin, and Acknowledge the within Bill of Sale be his Act & deed according to the purpose therein mentioned. John D. Stevens a Justice of the Peace John Pritchard Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale Paid from Ex.d was recorded on the 15.th day of August 1848, To wit: Levin H. Payne Know all men by these presents that I, Levin H. Payne of Dorchester County, for and in consideration of the sum of Forty five dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by John Pritchard of the state of Missouri, at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof, I the said Levin H. Payne do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said John Pritchard, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, one Chesnut Sorrel Horse, being the same Horse I purchased of a Certain Joseph E. Smith; all & singular which said Horse is now remaining, standing and being in a certain messuage or tenement, situate in Dorchester County, and now in the occupation of the said Levin H. Payne. To have and to hold all and singular the said Horse above bargained & old, or mentioned or intended so to be, to the said John Pritchard, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, forever And I the said Levin H. Payne, for myself, my heirs, executors and Administrators, all and singular the said Horse unto the said John Pritchard, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me, the said Levin H. Payne, my Executors and Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents of all & singular which said Horse I the said Levin H. Payne have put the said John Pritchard in full possession by delivering to him the said John Pritchard the above mentioned Horse at the sealing & delivery of these presents. In Witness whereof I the said Levin H. Payne hath hereto set my hand & seal the 14.th day of August Eighteen hundred & forty eight Witness Charles J. Smith Levin H. Payne (Seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered that on this fourteenth day of August in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight, personally appears Levin H. Payne, party grantor mentioned in the within Bill of Sale, before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace, for Dorchester County, and Acknowledges the said Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed, and the Horse therein mentioned to be the right and property of John Pritchard, party grantee also therein mentioned, his heirs |
