of the Peace, of the State of Maryland, in and for Dorchester County,
personally appears William B. Le Compte, a party of the first part &
William L. Hearne, party of the second part, to the within instrument
of Writing, they being known to me to be the persons who are named &
described as, and professing to be the parties to the foregoing deed or
instrument of WRiting, do acknowledge the said instrument of Writing
to be their Act and deed.   In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed
my name the day and year aforesaid.

Elizabeth Boston                  Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Ex.d      from                70   Sale was recorded on the 14.th day of August 1848.
W.m V. M. Edmondson      Know all men by these presents that I, William
                                           V. M. Edmondson, administrator of James E.
Goslin, late of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, dec.d, for and
in consideration of the sum of Seventy one dollars and sixty one cents,
current money, to me in hand paid by Elizabeth Boston (cold) of the
County & State aforesaid, at or before the sealing or delivery of these presents,
the receipt whereof I, the said William V. M. Edmondson, adm.r aforesaid,
do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by
these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said Elizabeth Boston, her
heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, a certain Negro Man, slave for
life, named Perry Boston, supposed to be about sixty years of age.  To have
and to hold the said negro man slave, named Perry Boston, above bargained
and sold, or intended so to be, to the said Elizabeth Boston, her heirs, executors,
Administrators and Assigns forever.  And I, the said William V. M. Edmondson
admr as aforesaid, for myself, heirs, Executors and Administrators, the said
Negro Man slave, named Peter Boston, unto the said Elizabeth Boston,
her heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said William
V. M. Edmondson, Adm.r aforesaid, my Executors & administrators, shall & will
hereafter warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In Witness whereof I,
the said William V. M. Edmondson, have hereunto set my hand and seal
this fifth day of August in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and forty eight.

Test   John D. Stevens                                       adm.r of James E. Goslin, dec.d

On this fifth day of August Eighteen hundred & forty eight, personally
appeared Elizabeth Boston, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God, that the consideration set forth in the above Bill of
sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth.   Sworn before me
the subscriber                                          John D. Stevens
