11. State of Maryland Be it remembered that the following Bond was from Ex.d recorded on the 16.th day of June 1847, To wit: Kendal M. Jacobs & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that we {Six dol.} Kendal M. Jacobs, Thomas H. Hicks, Turpin Wright and Levin Mobray of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Thirty one thousand seven hundred and seventy one dollars and forty eight cents current money of the United States to be paid to the said state or its certain Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs, executors and Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this sixteenth day of June in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty seven. The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden Kendal M. Jacobs appointed Collector of Dorchester County shall well and faithfully execute his office and the several duties required of him by law and shall well and truly account for and pay to the Commissioners for Dorchester County or to their order the several sums of Money which he shall receive or be answerable for by law at such time as the law shall direct then the above obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue in law. Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered that on this sixteenth day of June in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty seven personally appeared John Newton and James Higgins two of the subscribing witnesses to the within Bond before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace of the State of Maryland for Dorchester County aforesaid and severally made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that they did see Kendal M. Jacobs, Thomas H. Hicks, Turpin Wright and Levin Mowbray Obligors in the said Bond sign, seal and delivered the said Bond as their respective act and deed and that they the said John Newton & James Higgins did subscribe their names as witnesses thereto.
