Dorchester County, To wit:   on the first day of May 1848, personally appeared
before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and for the County
aforesaid.   James Hammersly & Barzillai Slacum, and made the following
Oath, To wit:   "We, James Hammersly & Barzillai Slacum subscribing
Witnesses to the above Bond, do make Oath that Polish G. Mills, Francis
I. Henry and Banaman Mills, Obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did
severally, in our presence, sign, seal & deliver the said Bond as their act &
deed, for the purposes therein mentioned."      Sworn before me on the day
above mentioned.                                             Charles Corkran


State of Maryland                  Be it remembered that the following Bond was recorded
          from      Ex.d               on the 8.th day of May 1848, To wit:
W.m W. Clifton & others      {Stamp}   Know all men by these presents that we
                                           {one dol.}  William W. Clifton, Silas Fleming & Algernon
S. Peircy, of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, are held & firmly
bound unto the state of Maryland, in the full & just sum of Two
thousand dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid to the
said state or its certain Attorney; to the which payment well & truly to be
made & done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators,
jointly & severally, firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals & dated this
17.th day of April 1848.      The Condition of the above Obligation is such
that if the above bounden William W. Clifton shall well and truly execute
the Office of Constable in Election District Number three, in Dorchester County,
in all things appertaining thereto, and shall well and truly account for
all monies placed in his hands for collection, and shall also well & truly
pay all sums of Money received by him, then the above Obligation to be void
otherwise of full force & virtue in law.                        W. W. Clifton      (Seal)
Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of               Silas Fleming      (Seal)
Dewit C. Handley      W. T. Vickers                              A. S. Peircy      (Seal)

Dorchester County, To wit:   On the 18.th day of April 1848, personally
appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, in and for the
County aforesaid, De Wit C. Handley and W.m T. Vickers, and made the
following Oath, To wit:  "We Dewit C. Handley & W.m T. Vickers
subscribing Witnesses to the above Bond do make Oath that
William W. Clifton, Silas Fleming and Algernon S. Peircy,
obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did severally, in our presence,
sign, seal & delivered the said Bond as their Act & deed, for the
purposes therein mentioned."
