ensuing, then this Bill of sale and every matter & thing therein expressed shall
be void and of none effect, it being the true intent and meaning thereof, that
the said Yoke of Steers is mortgaged by me, the said William H. Bacheler, to
secure to the said John B. Dean the payment of the money aforesaid.   In
Witness whereof I the said William H. Bacheler have hereunto set my hand
and affixed my seal this twentieth day of April in the year of our Lord
Eighteen hundred & forty Eight
Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of         William H. Batchelder   (Seal)

State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:   On this twentieth day of
April in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty eight personally
appeared William H. Bacheler, before the subscriber, one of the Justices of the
Peace in and for the County & state aforesaid, and acknowledged the within
instrument of writing to be his act and deed, according to the true intent
and meaning thereof, and the Act of Assembly in such cases.   Given
under my hand the day & year above written.      Nicholas Langfit J. P.   (Seal)

And I also Certify that on the same day & year aforesaid, John B. Dean,
the Mortgagee, mentioned in the said mortgage, personally appeared before
me and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration
money mentioned in the said Mortgage is justly & bona fide due
as therein specified.           Sworn before         Nicholas Langfit   (seal)


State of Maryland            Be it remembered that the following Bond was recorded
Paid      from      Ex.d      on the 1.st day of May 1848, To wit:
Polish G. Mills & others   {Stamp}   Know all men by these presents that we
                                      {one dol.}   Polish G. Mills, Francis I. Henry and
Banaman Mills, of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, are held &
firmly bound unto the State of Maryland, in the full and just sum of Two
thousand dollars, current Money of the United States, to be paid to the said
State, or its certain Attorney;  to the which payment well & truly to be made
and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors & administrators, jointly &
severally, firmly by these presents.   Sealed with our seals & dated this first
day of May 1848.               The Condition of the above Obligation is such
that if the above bounden Polish G. Miles shall well & truly execute the
office of Constable in Election District number seven, in Dorchester County, in
all things appertaining thereto, & shall well & truly account for all Monies placed in his
hands for collection, and shall also well & truly pay all sums of Money received by him, then
the above Obligation to be void, otherwise of full force & virtue in law.
