purport true intent and meaning of the within Bill of sale or instrument
of writing and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided  Taken
and certified the day first herein written and I further certify that the
words and other property inserted between the ninth and tenth ^one^ of the
          above acknowledgement was written            Aljernon Thomas

Moses Cork          Be it remembered that the following Manumission
Ex.d   from             was recorded on the 8th april 1843 to wit
Samuel Pattison      To all whom it may concern be it Knowing that
I Saml Pattison of Dorchester county in the state of maryland for divers
good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released
from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents
do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my
negro man named Moses Cork being of the age of Forty three years and
able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and mantenance
and him the said negro man named Moses Cork I do declare to be
henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of
service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators forever In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this
7 day of april in the year of our Lord 1843

Be it remembered that on this 8th day of april in the year Eighteen
Hundred and forty Three  Personally appeared before me the subscriber
a Justice of the peace Samuel Pattison Party to the within instrument

Levin Focks       Be it remembered that the following bill of sale was
Ex.d   from         recorded april 10th 1843 to wit      Know all men
Jacob Henry       by these presents that I Jacob Henry sc of Dorchester
County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of
one hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid by Levin Focks
of the County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery
hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
