91 the within named W V M Edmondson the party granted also therein named his heirs and assigns forever according to the purport true intent and meaning of the said Bill of Sale or instrument of writing and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided Taken and Certified the day and year above written William Newton Noah J Foxwell Be it remembered that the following Bill of Ex.d from sale was recorded on the 4th april 1840 to wit William Collison Exer Know all men by these presents that I William of Sarah C Layton Collison Executor of Sarah C Layton for and in consideration of the sum of Forty dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Noah J Foxwell have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Noah J Foxwell (Sarah C Layton) negro woman named Eliza left free by the will of Sarah C Layton and whose term of Service has been extended by the orphans Court and sound in body and mind to have and to hold the said negro for the term of four years ending the last day of December 1846 on account of an insufficiency of assets to pay the legacies bequeathed by the will of Sarah C Layton dec.d as above bargained and sold unto the said Noah J Foxwell his heirs executors administrators and assigns against me the said William Collison as Executor of Sarah C Layton my heirs executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this Fourth day of April 1843 Test Solomon Robinson William Collison (Seal) State of Maryland Noah J. Foxwell (Seal) Dorchester County to wit On this 4th day of april 1843 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the said county and state personally appeared William Collison I Noah J Foxwell and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Solomon Robinson W V M Edmondson Be it remembered that the following bill of sale Ex.d from was recorded April 4th 1843 to wit Know all Nathaniel J Welburn men by these presents that I Nathaniel J. Wilburn of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of fifty Eight dollars and thirty ^nine^ cents to me in hand paid by W V M Edmondson of the County and state aforesaid at or before the sealing delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Nathaniel J Wilburn doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained and sold and by these presents |
