84 Certify to all manner of persons whom it doth or may concern that my Son William Richard Hayward is seized and possessed of a certain negro man called Edward Willson aged about twenty Seven years and has removed the said negro man called Edward Willson from the Teritory of Florida within the state for his own use and benifit and not for sale do make out this Certificate of the said negro slave called Edward Wilson agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Witness my hand and seal this 18 day of March 1843 Test Thomas Hayward (Seal) Charles Corkran for Wm R Hayward Maryland Dorchester County To wit on this 18 day of March 1843 The above named Thomas Hayward appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County and state aforesaid and made oath on the holy Evangely of Almighty God that his son William Richard Hayward resides in Florida and he this deponent is a Citizen of the State of Maryland and resides in Dorchester County and that the above is a true and faithfull list of the said negro slave and that he hath not been removed into this State for sale and that he is a slave for life to the best of his Knowledge Sworn before Charles Corkran James P. Russell Be it remembered that the following bill of sale Ex.d from was recorded on the 27th March 1843 to wit Alfred Wheatley Know all men by these presents that I Alfred Wheatley of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty dollars current money to me in hand paid by James P Russell of the county and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said James P. Russell his Executors administrators and assigns one grey horse one bay mare one yoke of oxen one red cow one cart one Bed and furniture two Desks two chests his tables one side board one loom and gear six stacks of fodder and eight barrels of corn all which property is now in my possession To have and to hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the said James P. Russell his Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their proper use and benifit and I the said Alfred Wheatley for my self my executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents unto the said James P. Russell his executors administrators and assigns the said described property Deld J P Russell 11 Augt 1846 |
