67 to have and to hold the said Negro "Phoebe" and her child as above bargained and sold unto the said Henry Maguire and his heirs executors or administrators and assigns against me the said James A. Stewart my heirs executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of January 1843 Test Charles Corkran James A Stewart (seal) State of Maryland On this 13th day of January 1843 before me the subscriber Dorchester County to wit a Justice of the peace in and for the said County and State personally appeared James A Stewart and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Samuel Donnock Be it remembered that the following bill of sale Ex.d from was recorded on the 4th Feby 1843 to wit Henry Shenton Know all men by these presents that whereas I Henry Shenton of Dorchester County Stands indebted unto Samuel Dunnock upon a Bill obligatory executed by me this day for the Sum of Two hundred and Fifty nine dollars with interest from date independent of Judgements the s.d Dunnock holds against me and for the purpose of securing the payment of the said sums of money have agreed to execute these presents now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Henry Shenton in consideration of the premises & of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said Dunnock have granted bargained & sold & by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said Dunnock the following property to wit one negro woman "Henny" one horse & carrrige Fifty cords of wood now cut 3 yoke of broke oxen 1 yoke of unbroke oxen 5 cows 1 ox cart Farmin utensils 3 beds bedsteads & furniture 10 chairs one bureau one tent one loom & gear twenty barrels of corn 1000 lbs of bacon 1000 lbs of blades 4 stacks of top fodder 4 stacks of straw and all the residue of my personal property of every description To have & to hold the said property to the said Samuel Dunnock & his heirs and assigns forever with this proviso that if the said Henry Shenton shall on or before the 1st day of april in the year Eighteen hundred and forty five pay to the said Samuel Dunnock the said Sum of two hundred and fifty nine dollars with interest then this obligation to be void else of full force & virtue in law In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3d of February 1843 Henry Shenton (Seal) Test Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit on this 3d of February |
