66 and regulation of the Levy Courts in the Several Counties of this State have appointed William W Davis Constable of Election Dystrict mo 3 in the place of John Dellehay who has departed this life witness our hands and seals this 30th day of January 1843 To the Clerk of John G. Abbott (seal) Dorchester County Court Solomon Robinson (seal) Know all men by these presents that we William W. Davis William Willoughby and W V M Edmondson of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Two thousand dollars current money of the United States to be paid to the said State or its certain Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs executors & administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 31st day of January 1843 the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden William W Davis shall well and truly execute the office of Constable of Election Dystrict no 3 in all things appertaining thereto & shall also well and truly account for all moneys placed in his hands for collection and shall also well and truly pay all sums of money received by him then the obligation to be void otherwise of full force and virtue in law Signed sealed and delivered William W Davis (seal) in the presence of William Willoughby (seal) Henry W Hicks W V M Edmondson (seal) Josiah Hooper Dorchester County On this 31st day of January 1843 personally appeared to wit before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid Henry W Hicks and Josiah Hooper and made the following oath to wit "We Henry W Hicks and Josiah Hooper subscribing witnesses to the above bond do make oath that William W Davis William Willoughby and W V M Edmondson obligors mentioned in the said bond did severally in our presence sign seal and deliver the said bond as their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned" Sworn before me on the day above mentioned William Newton John D. Stevens Henry Maguire Be it remembered that the following Bill of sale Ex.d from was recorded on the 1st Feb 1843 to wit James A Stewart Know all men by these presents that I James A Stewart for and in consideration of ^of the sum^ Two hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Henry Maguire have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Henry maguire my negro woman named Phoebe and her child slaves for life and sound in body and mind |
