Maryland Dorchester County, To wit:  on this ^the^ 18.th day of January
1847 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of
Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appears
Arnold Edgar and acknowledged the above Bill of sale to be
his act and deed and delivered for the purposes therein mentioned
agreeable to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided
Acknowledged before and Certified by              James Cooper


John Jones of Col.           Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Ex.d   from   Fee paid      sale was recorded on the first day of February 1847
Levin Jones    J. P.           Know all men by these presents that I Levin Jones
Ex.r of J. Hurst                 J. P. Executor of Stephen Hurst for and in consideration
                                        of the sum of one hundred and Eighty dollars
to me in hand paid by John Jones of Col have granted, bargained &
sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said
John Jones of Col my negro Man named John servant for a term
of years according to manumission from said Hurst to be free January
1 1853 and sound in body and mind.  To have and to hold the
said negro man John servant for a term of years to be free January
1 1853 as aforesaid as above bargained and sold unto the said John
Jones of Col his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against me
the said Levin Jones J. P. and my Testator and his heirs, executors and
administrators and against all and every other person or persons claiming
under him or them.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and affixed my seal this fourteenth day of January 1847.

State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit:  On this 14.th day of
January 1847 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for
the said County and state personally appeared Levin Jones J. P. Executor
and John Jones of Col and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale or
instrument of writing to be their Act and deed according to the true
intent and meaning thereof.   Acknowledged before

Zadock H. Rosse      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale
Ex.d      from             was recorded on the 8.th day of February 1847, To wit:
John E. Phillips          Know all Men by these presents that I John E
                                 Phillips of Dorchester Cy in the state of Maryland
for and in consideration of the sum of sixty dolls current
money to me in hand paid by D.r Zadock H. Rosse of the same
