William Rea      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale
Ex.d   from       was recorded on the 29.th day of December 1846, To wit:
W.m S. Byns    (Stamp)      Know all men by these presents that I William
                        (one dol.)    S Byns for and in consideration of the sum
of Eight hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by William
Rea, have granted, bargained & sold and by these presents do grant,
bargain & sell unto the said William Rea my Negroes named
Man Tom aged 21 years, David aged 19 yrs, Maria aged 35 yrs,
Dennis aged 12 yrs, little Maria aged 6 yrs, Nearce aged 4 yrs and
Elizabeth 9 months slaves for life and sound in body and mind
To have and to hold the said Negroes Tom, David, Mariah,
Dennis, Mariah, Nearce & Elizabeth as above bargained & sold
unto the said WIlliam Rea, his heirs, Executors, Administrators
and Assigns against me the said William S. Byns, my heirs, Executors
and Administrators and against all and every other person
or persons shall & will warrant and defend.  In testimony whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty ninth
day of December 1846.

State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit:   On this 29.th day
of December 1846 before me the subscriber a Justice of the
Peace in and for said County ^and State^ personally appeared William
S. Byns and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale or instrument
of Writing to be his act and deed according to the true
intent and meaning thereof.      Acknowledge before

Veleria V. Byns      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale
