Noah I. Rauleigh      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale
Ex.d      from            was recorded on the 29 day of December 1846, To wit:
William Jackson   State of Maryland Stamp   Know all men by these presents that I William
                                           one                    Jackson of Dorchester County for and in
                                          Doll
consideration of the sum of Seven hundred and seventy five dollars
current Money to me in hand paid by Noah I. Rauleigh of the same
county at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold
and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Noah
I. Rauleigh, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns the following
Negroes, Slaves for life, To wit:  Boy Jinkins about Eighteen
years of age, Woman Emily about twenty five years of age,
and her female Child Maria aged about Eighteen months
To have and to hold all and singular the said Negroes, Jinkins,
Emily and Maria slaves for life unto the said Noah I. Rauleigh,
his Executors, Administrators and Assigns to his and their only
proper use and behoof all of which said Negroes I have delivered
and are now in the possession of the said Noah I. Rauleigh
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
twenty ninth day of December in the year Eighteen hundred
and forty six.

Dorchester County sc      Be it remembered and it is hereby certified
that on this 29.th day of December 1846 personally appeared before
the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County William
Jackson and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his
act and deed according to the Acts of Assembly in such cases made &
provided.                                                            Robert Bell   J. P.
