399. and it is hereby certified that on this 19 day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty six before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appeared Ignatius B. Newton and do acknowledge to the this said bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his Act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Edward Tull J. P. Thomas Barnett Be it remembered that the following Bill of Ex.d from sale was recorded on the 28.th day of Dec.r 1846. John Brown Negro Know all men by these presents that I John Brown free Coloured man of Dorchester County & State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty three dollars current money to me in hand paid by Thomas Barnett of the County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Thomas Barnett, his Executors administrators and assigns one Yoke of broke Stears & Yoke one pr of young Stears, one red milk Cow & one dark Milk Cow, one black yearling, one red Calf, one Sow and 6 pigs, one ox Cart about four hundred pounds of salted Pork and about ten Barels of Corn, one Blade Stack, Fodder House, one p.r Iron Wedges, crop of wheat seeded on Farm and all the balance of House hold Furniture all of which property is now in my possession. To have and to hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the said Thomas Barnett, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit. And I the said John Brown for myself, my Executors and Administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents to the said Thomas Barnett his Executors, Administrators and Assigns the said described property against me, my Executors and Administrators against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24 day Dec.r 1846. Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of his W. I.
