Levin W. Stewart      Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Ex.d      from             sale was recorded on the 4.th day of December 1846
Thomas Jones            Know all men by these presents that I Thomas
                                  Jones White Marsh of Dorchester County for and
State of Maryland Stamp   in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and sixty five Dolls to me
                   one                in hand paid by Levin W. Stewart of said County the receipt
                 Dollar               whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold
and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Levin
W. Stewart his heirs and Assigns forever my negro slaves called "John"
aged about twenty four years sound in body and mind and warranted
to be a slave for life   To have and to hold the said Negro Slave
called "John" to the said Levin W. Stewart, his heirs & Assigns forever
In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 1.st of
Dec.r 1846

State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit:  On this 2 day
of December 1846 personally appears before me the subscriber a
Justice of the Peace for said State and County Thomas Jones and
acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his Act and
deed for the purposes therein mentioned.   Acknowledged before

Martin L. Wright               Be it remembered that the following
         from                         Mortgage was recorded on the 14.th day
Jacob Barnett & others      of December 1846, To wit:

Levin W. Stewart      Be it remembered that the following ^Mortgage^ Bill of
Ex.d      from             Sale was recorded on the 15.th day of Dec.r 1846.
Sam Todd                 Know all men by these presents that I Sam
                                 Todd of Dorchester County & State of Maryland for
and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & thirty five dollars
current money to me in hand paid by L. W. Stewart as agent for the
heirs of Joseph Stewart dec.d of the County and state aforesaid at &
before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
I the said Sam Todd do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto
the said L. W. Stewart agent as aforesaid his Executors, Administrators
and Assigns two yoke Steers, one Cow, one Cart, one
Plough and nine Hogs now in my possession   To have
and to hold the said Steers, Cow, Cart, Plough & Hogs to the
said L. W. Stewart, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns forever
