Dorchester County SS   Be it remembered that on this thirteenth
day of October 1846 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace
for said County appears Levin Petty and acknowledges the above
instrument of writing to be his Act and deed according to the true
intent and meaning thereof.   Acknowledged before
                                                                Brannock Moore   J. P.


John Holmes' Certificate      Be it remembered that the following Certificate
of Negro Jane                     was recorded on the 26.th day of October 1846
                            Ex.d        Maryland Dorchester County to wit:  On this
twenty sixth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and forty six personally appeared before me the subscriber one of
the Justices of the Peace in and for Dorchester County aforesaid John
Holmes of said County and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God that he has in his possession a negro woman slave for life
which came from the State of Virginia and that the said Jane
was a bona fide gift to him from Nicholas Pope Buchan of Virginia
and that the said Negro Girl Jane has been removed to the State
of Maryland not for purpose of sale or barter but to serve the said
John Holmes.   Sworn before                           W.m W. LeCompte

List showing the name and age of Negro removed into the State
of Maryland from the State of Virginia by John Holmes of
Dorchester County   Negro Girl Jane aged sixteen years

Maryland Dorchester County ss  on this twenty sixth day of October
Eighteen hundred and forty six personally appeared before the subscriber
a Justice of the Peace in and for said County and State John
Holmes of said County and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God that the above is a true and faithful list of a negro removed by
him into the State of Maryland and that the same has not been removed
for the purpose of barter or sale.   Sworn before   W.m W. LeCompte


John D. Parker      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was
Ex.d   from            recorded on the 2.d day of November 1846, To wit:
W.m Moore   State of Maryland Stamp   Know all men by these presents that I William
                                     10                      Moore of Dorchester County state of Maryland
for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars
to me in hand paid by John D. Parker of said County have granted,
bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto
the aforesaid John D. Parker, his heirs and Assigns forever one Grey Horse,
one yoke of Oxen, one Ox Cart, one Plough, two milch Cows, four head
