the County and State aforesaid before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof I the said Samuel McCollester do hereby
acknowledge, have given, granted, bargained & sold and by these presents
do hereby give, grant, bargain & sell unto the said Martin M. Dean
his Executors, Administrators and Assigns a certain Negro Girl slave
named Rosetta supposed to be about thirteen years of age.  To
have and to hold the said Negro Girl slave named
above bargained and sold or intended so to be to the said Martin M.
Dean his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever.  And I the
said Samuel M.cCollester for myself, my heirs, executors & administrators
the said Negro Girl named Rosetta as a slave unto the
said Martin M. Dean, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns
against me the said Samuel M.cCollester, my Executors and Administrators
and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents
In Witness whereof I Samuel M.cCollester have hereunto set my
hand and seal this 14.th day of July in the year of Our Lord Eighteen
hundred and forty six.                                                       his

State of Maryland Dorchester County, To Wit:  on this 14.th day of
July in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty six personally
appears Samuel M.cCollester the party Grantor within named before
me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid
and acknowledges the within instrument of writing to be his Act and
deed and the Negro Girl named Rosetta therein mentioned and thereby
bargained and sold to be the right and estate of the within named
Martin M. Dean and his heirs and Assigns forever according to the
purport true intent and meaning of the said instrument of
writing.  Acknowledged before               Jn.o B. Leckie


William Thomas      Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Ex.d   from             Sale was recorded on the 20.th day of July 1846
Mary Thomas         Know all men by these presents that I Mary Thomas
                              of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland
for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty Dollars
current money to me in hand paid by William Thomas of the
said County and State at and before the sealing and delivering of
these presents the receipt whereof I the said Mary Thomas do
hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by
these presents do grant, bargain, sell unto the said William
