369. Mary Ann Drain Be it remembered that the following Deed Paid Ex.d to of Manumission was recorded June 24 1846 Sundry Negroes Maryland Dorchester County, To wit; To all whom it may concern be it known that I Mary Ann Drain of the Town of Cambridge in Dorchester County and state of Maryland for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free the following negro slaves according to and the times hereinafter specified at which time or terms they will each be able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and Maintenance to wit: Negro Boy George aged fourteen years to be free January the first Eighteen hundred and sixty two 1862 Negro Boy James Wise aged three years to be free January the first Eighteen hundred and seventy four 1874 And Negro Girl Margaret aged seven years to be free January the first Eighteen hundred and seventy and then the said Negroes George, James Wise and Margaret I do declare to be free after the periods within named and thenceforth free, manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me, my Executors or Administrators forever In Witness whereof I have hereto set my name and seal affixed June 16.th 1846. Drain (Seal) Maryland Dorchester County Sct On this 16.th day of June in the year of Our Lord 1846 then came before me the undersigned a Justice of the Peace in & for said County Mary Drain whom I am satisfied is the same person mentioned in the above Manumission and acknowledged the above Manumission to be her Act and deed according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly in such case made & provided Certified by W.m W. LeCompte J. P.
