36 Maryland Dorchester county Personally appears William S Byers this 12th January 1843 before me a justice of the peace for the county and state aforesaid and acknowledge the above instrument to be his act and deed Acknowledge before me John G Abbott J.P. Sarah Keene Be it remembered that the following bill Ex.d from of sale was recorded on 14 Jany anno domini Lovey Gains 1843 to wit Know all men by these presents that I Lovey Gains of Dorchester county state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Forty Dollars and cents to me in hand paid by Sarah Keene of the County and State aforesaid Have granted Bargained and sold and by these presents do grant Bargain and sell unto the aforesaid Sarah Keene her heirs and assigns forever one yoke young steers broke three young steers; Two cows & one calf To have and to hold the above mentioned property unto the said Sarah Keene his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and benifit and behoof of the said Sarah Keene his heirs and assigns forever Witness my hand and seal this seventh day of January one thousand Eight hundred and forty three Signed sealed and his delivered in pressence of Lovey + Gains (seal) James Smith mark Thomas D Keene maryland Dorchester county to wit On this seventh day of January 1843 Personally appeared Before me the the subscriber a Justice of the of the peace in and for the state and county aforesaid Lovey Gains and acknowledged the above Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be her act and Deed according to the true intent and meaning of the same & the acts of assembly in such case made & provided acknowledge before, James Smith William Hollon Be it remembered that the following Ex.d his Certificate of certificate was recorded on the 14 Negro Cassa Jany anno domini 1843 to wit A list of slaves bought from Sussex county delaware and introduced into the state of maryland by William Hollan of Dorchester county and state of maryland as his slaves for life on the sixteenth day of December anno domini one thousand eight hundred and forty two in: one young negro woman named casa aged about sixteen years |
