37 and of dark chesnut colour William Hollon Dorchester County On this sixth day of January anno domini one state of Maryland thousand eight hundred and forty three before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the county and state aforesaid personally appeared William Hollon of the county and state aforesaid and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the above and aforegoing list of a negro woman cassa as described therein is a full true and full list of the negro brought by him this Defendant from sussex county Deleware into Dorchester county maryland and that he has not removed the said negro woman into this state for the purposes of sale and that she is a slave for life; and also that it is his intention and determination, stile as heretofore to be a citizen and resident of the county and state aforesaid Geo A. Z smith (JP) William Frazier Be it remembered that the following bill of John Spedden Sale was recorded on 16th Jany anno domini Ex.d from 1843 to wit Know all by these presents James Ratcliff that I James Ratcliff of Dorchester County in the state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid by William Frazier & John Spedden of Dorchester county in the said state at and before the sealing and Delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said James Ratcliff do hereby acknowledge have Granted bargained and sold and by these presents Do Grant bargain and sell unto the said William Frazier & John Spedden there executors administrators and assigns that is to say 2 yoke of Oxen 2 cows Red 2 young steers Red & white 2 heiffers 1 Red 1 Black & white to have and to hold all the said cattal or stock above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said William Frazier and John Spedden their executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said James Ratcliff for myself my heirs Executors and administrators and assigns against me the said James Ratcliff my Executors and administrators and against all and every this person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 14th Day of January 1843 signed ^and^ sealed and James Ratcliff (seal) delivered in the pressence of Maryland Dorchester county To wit Be it remembered that on the 14th day of January 1843 personally appeared before |
