332. James A. Stewart Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Ex.d from Bill of Sale was recorded on the 10.th Feb.y 1846 Charles Dixon & Know all men by these presents that we Charles Dixon Sally Dixon and Sally Dixon for and in consideration of the sum of Seventeen hundred and thirty seven Dols & fifty cents to us in hand paid by James A. Stewart have bargained, sold & delivered to said Stewart the following Negroes belonging to us To Wit: Negro Boy called "Miller", Negro Boy called "Jerry", also Negro Boy called John slaves for life To have and to hold the said Negro Slaves to s.d Stewart his heirs and assigns forever Whereas the undersigned have seperately puchased certain real estate from s.d Stewart as Trustee of W. Dixon amounting to the aforesaid sum of Money with Interest from the 19.th Nov 1845 and whereas the undersigned Sally Dixon is entitled to a proportion of the proceeds of sale as widow of s.d Dixon which is to be applied to the payment of the said debt as far as it goes Now therefore it is the ^true^ intent and meaning of these presents that if within Eighteen months from the 19.th Nov.r last the said Sally Dixon or Charles Dixon shall pay to s.d Stewart the residue of the said debt after deducting M.rs Dixon's proportion of the proceeds of sale when ascertained by the Auditor in Chancery then this Bill of Sale to be of no effect otherwise in full force and virtue. Dixon (Seal) Dorchester County, To Wit: On this 31.st Jany 1846 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County Sally Dixon & Charles Dixon and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be their act and deed. Acknowledged before Standley Richardson John Edmondson Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Bill of Sale Ex.d from was recorded on the 13.th day of February 1846, To wit: Thomas T. Hooper This Indenture made this sixth day of February A. D. Eighteen hundred & forty five between Thomas T. Hooper of the City of Baltimore in the State of Maryland of the one part and John Edmondson of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that Whereas by a single bill obligatory bearing even date herewith the said Hooper is indebted to the said Edmondson in the sum of two hundred & twelve dollars payable with interest to the order of said Edmondson six months after the date of said bill Now This Indenture Witnesseth that in consideration of the premises and to secure the payment of said bill obligatory according to the tenor & purport thereof and for the sum of one dollar to the said Thomas T. Hooper hath bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and convey unto |
