Witness my hand & seal Test his Robert Bell William x North mark State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit: on this 2.d of January 1846 before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace for said State & County personally appears the within named James Wallace adm.r of Aaron Cook and William North both of said County the one the Grantor and the other the Grantee and respectively acknowledge the foregoing instrument of writing to be their act and deed. In testimony whereof I have hereto subscribed my name on the day & year aforesaid. Acknowledged before Robert Bell William C. Huffington Be it remembered that the following Manumission Paid Ex.d to was recorded on the 3.d February 1846. Linah Stanley Know all men by these presents that I William C. Huffington of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery, liberated, manumitted & forever set free and do by these presents release from slavery, liberate, manumit and forever set free my my Negro Woman Linah Stanley aged about forty four of sound mind and body hereby acknowledging the said Negro Woman called Linah Stanley discharged from me my heirs Executors and administrators and from all persons whatsoever from and after the date of these presents. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 3.d day of February Anno Domini 1846. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of W. C. Huffington (Seal) Robert Bell J. P. C. W. Hopkins Maryland Dorchester County, To Wit: On the 3.d day of February Anno Domini 1846 the above named William C. Huffington appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County and state aforesaid and acknowledged the above Manumission to be his act and deed and delivered the same for the uses & purposes therein mentioned according to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided.
