289. State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered that on this twelfth day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the said County personally appeared Samuel M.cCollester he being known to me to be the person named in the within Bill of sale and acknowledged the said Bill of Sale or instrument of Writing to be his act and deed. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name the one the day and year aforesaid. Nimrod Newton Henry Bibby Be it remembered that the following Mortgage from Ex.d Bill of Sale was recorded on the 7.th day of William Robinson April 1845, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I William Robinson of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and twenty six dollars current money of the United States to me in hand paid by Henry Bibby of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said William has granted, bargained, sold, transfered and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain and sell, transfer and convey unto the said Henry Bibby his heirs and Assigns the following Negro slaves to wit: one Negro Woman Lucy, one Negro Boy Levin, one Negro Girl Zilpha, one Negro Boy Gabriel and one Negro Boy George. To have and to hold the said above described Negroes unto him the said Henry Bibby, his heirs & Assigns to him and their sole use and for no other intent or purpose whatsoever against me the said William Robinson and my heirs and against all persons whatsoever. Provided Nevertheless and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the said parties hereunto that if the said William Robinson shall pay and satisfy to the said Henry Bibby the said sum of four hundred and twenty six dollars current money as aforesaid with interest thereon within three years from the date hereof then and in such case these presents and every thing herein contained shall cease and be utterly nul and void any thing herein contained tot eh contrary notwithstanding it being the true intent & meaning of these parties that the said above described Negroes are Mortgaged to the said Henry Bibby to secure to him the payment of the above mentioned sum of Money and for no other person whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said William Robinson has hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five.
