                            Dorchester County, To wit:  On the 21.st day of
April 1845, personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of
the Peace in and for the County aforesaid John Muir and Algernon
Thomas and made the following Oath, To wit:  "We John Muir and
Algernon Thomas subscribing Witnesses to the above Bond do make
oath that James E. Douglass, Jacob Wilson and John Reed obligors
mentioned in the said Bond and severally in our presence sign, seal &
deliver the said Bond as their Act and deed for the purposes therein
mentioned.  Sworn before me on the day above mentioned
                                                                               Robt Bell
approved by the Commissioners April 21 1845
                                     Test   William Rea Clerk C. D. C.


    State               Be it remembered that the following Bond was recorded
Ex.d   from          on the 22.d day of April 1845, To wit:
Josiah Layton      Know all men by these presents that we Josiah Layton,
                           William Mears and John T. Houston of Dorchester
County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the
State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Two thousand dollars
current money of the United States to be paid to the said State or its certain
attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made &
done we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators
jointly and severally firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals
and dated this 21 day of April 1845.  The Condition of the above
obligation is such that if the above bounden Josiah Layton shall
well and truly execute the office of Constable of Election District N.o 2
in all things appertaining thereto and shall well and truly account
for all moneys sealed in his hands for collection and shall also well
and truly pay all sums of Money received by him then the above
Obligation to be void otherwise of full force and virtue in law
