Short Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was Ex.d from recorded on the 23.d day of December 1844, To wit: W.m T. Vickers Know all men by these presents that William T. Vickers of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty three dollars lawful money of the United States in hand paid by Ebin L. Short at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged: Have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Eben L. Short, his executors, administrators and assigns one Negro Boy Dick aged about 21 years and formerly the property of William Short dec.d To have and to hold the said described Negro Boy Dick to the said Eben L. Short, his executors, administrators and assigns forever; And he the said William T. Vickers, for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators the said Negro Boy Dick unto the said Eben L. Short, his executors, administrators and assigns against him the said William T. Vickers, executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14.th day of December eighteen hundred and forty four signed sealed & delivered in the W. T. Vickers (seal) presence of Dorchester County Ss. Be it remembered that on this fourteenth day of December 1844 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County appears William T. Vickers and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before Brannock Moore (L S) Delivered Jan.y 5.th 1846 to Eben L. Short Manumission Be it remembered that the following Manumission and Ann P. S. Vanes recorded on the 25.th day of December 1844, To wit: To Ex.d To all whom it may Concern Be it remembered that I Ann Sundry Negroes Priscilla Smith Vanes of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations we thereunto moving do liberated and set free from and after the dates and times hereinafter mentioned my two Negroes Minty Dickinson and John Dickinson that is to say Minty Dickinson being twenty four years of age in September eighteen hundred and forty four sound healthy and strong to serve untill the twenty fifth day of September in the year eighteen hundred and fifty five & then be free and John Dickinson aged twenty years in March eighteen hundred |
