In Witness whereof I the said John S. Staplefort do hereunto set my hand and seal
this 15.th day of June 1844.
Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of               John S. Staplefort   (seal)

                                           Maryland Dorchester County To wit:  On the 15.th day
of June 1844 personally appeared John S. Staplefort before me the Subscriber a
Justice of the Peace in and for said County and acknowledged the above Bill of
Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent
and meaning of the same.  Acknowledged before and Certified by   D. W. Tyler


Joel Cornwell      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded
alph  Ex.d  from   on the 4.th day of July 1844, To wit:
Peter Owens        Know all men by these presents that I Peter Owens of Dorchester
                            County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the
sum of one hundred dollars lawful money of the United States in hand paid
by Joel Cornwell at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged:  Have granted, bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Joel Cornwell his executors,
administrators and assigns all my interest in and to a crop of wheat now growing
on the farm & now in cultivation by me and John Thompson in partnership
and belonging to said Thompson   To have and to hold the said described
crop of wheat to the said Joel Cornwell his executors, administrators
and assigns forever and him the said Peter Owens for himself, his heirs, executors
and administrators the said Peter Owens unto the said Joel Cornwell
his executors, administrators and assigns against him the said Peter Owens
his executors and administrators and against all and every other person or
persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22.d day of June
eighteen hundred and forty four.
Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of               Peter Owens      (seal)

S. S.  Be it remembered that on this 22.d day of June 1844 before the subscriber
a Justice of the Peace for said County appears Peter Owens and acknowledges the above
instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and
meaning thereof.  Acknowledged before                      Brannock Moore
