and twenty dollars current money to me in hand paid by Elijah Hurst and in compliance
with an order of the Orphans Court have granted bargained and sold and by these presents
do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Elijah Hurst my Negro Man John Camper and my
negro woman Mahaly Ease to serve the said Hurst from the date of these indentures untill
the expiration of the year eighteen hundred and forty six after the expiration of said
term they have to return to the heirs of said Norman being sold for the payment of his
debts as above bargained and unto the said Elijah Hurst his heirs executors administrators
and assigns against me the said James D. Twelley administrator of Hooper Norman
my heirs executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons
shall and will warrant and defend  In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand &
affixed my seal this 13.th day of April 1844

                               State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit:
on this 29.th day of April 1844 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and
for the said County and state personally appeared James D. Twelley and Elijah Hurst and
acknowledged the above Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be their act and deed and
according to the true intent and meaning thereof.  Acknowledged before James Rea


James D. Twelley    Be it remembered that the following Bill of sale was recorded
Ex.d   from              on the 29.th day of April 1844, To wit:
Elijah Hurst              Know all men by these presents that I Elijah Hurst for and in
                                consideration of the sum of forty dollars current money to me
in hand paid by James D. Twelley have granted, bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said James D. Twelley my negro woman Mahaly
Ease purchased out of the estate of Hooper Norman to serve the said James D. Twelley from
the date of these indentures untill the expiration of the year eighteen hundred and
forty six after the expiration of the said term she then to return to the heirs of
Hooper Norman and unto the said James D. Twelley his heirs executors administrators
and assigns against me the said Elijah Hurst my heirs executors and administrators and
against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend.  In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13.th day of April 1844.
