179 Minty Henson Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded Paid from Ex.d on the 5.th day of January 1844. To wit: Mary Ennalls Dorchester County, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I Mary Ennalls of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for diverse good causes me thereunto moving and also for the sum of five dollars current money to me in hand paid by Minty Henson (free Negro) of Dorchester County the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do give, grant, bargain & sell unto her the said Minty Henson my Negro Slave Charlesena Henson to serve the said Minty Henson untill the first day of January eighteen hundred and sixty seven and them to be forever free. To have and to hold the said Negro slave Charlesima Henson unto her the said Minty Henson untill the first day of January eighteen hundred and Sixty seven and then to be forever free, unancepated, liberated and discharged from service to the said minty Henson and every other person whatsoever. Witness my hand and seal this fifth day of January eighteen hundred and forty three four. signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Mary Ennalls (Seal) Charles Corkran Josiah Bayly J.r Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered that on the fifth day of January eighteen hundred and forty four the above named Mary Ennalls personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace for Dorchester County and acknowledged the within and above instrument of writing to be her Act and deed. Taken and acknowledged before me Charles Corkran Del.d Minty Henson 23.d Sept.r 1844 James Thompson Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was from Ex.d recorded on the 8.th day of January 1844, To wit: Elisha Phillips Know all men by these presents that I Elisha Phillips of Dorchester County & state of Maryland: In consideration of one hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by James Thompson the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have given granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto James Thompson his heirs executors administrators and assigns three thousand weight of Blade fodder 1 sow and 7 pigs 3 Brindle heifers 3 top stacks 4 Beds 30 Barrels of Corn ½ dozen chairs 1 Mahogany Table 44 bushels of wheat seeding in the ground; all of which said stocks and furniture is now in my possession to have and to hold said described property above bargained and sold to the said James Thompson his executors administrators and assigns forever to his and there only proper use and benefit and I the said Elisha Phillips for myself my executors |
